Natural Remedies: High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure is one of those diseases that can do harm to the body over the course of years without ever creating a single symptom in the victim. Causes of this illness vary. Tobacco use, alcohol, lack of exercise, weight, family history, and/or age can all be factors in the development of the condition. The great thing is, there are natural remedies for high blood pressure. These things you can incorporate into your life in ways that work for you, on your time.
Heavy smoker or drinker

If you are a heavy smoker or drinker and have been diagnosed with high blood pressure, chances are you’ve already been lectured on the dangers you face if you continue to indulge in these behaviors. The problem is, abstinence from these things has become moralized, and morality leaves no room for a middle ground. The fact is, to reduce your indulgence in these habits even by a little would be beneficial. If quitting altogether seems daunting, take this into consideration. You can reduce the frequency of your habits over time, and work toward a complete separation from you and your addictions at your own pace.
Changes in diet

Changes in diet will be necessary, but you would be amazed at what you can add to your diet to reduce your blood pressure. There is evidence to suggest that garlic has the power to reduce high blood pressure, as well as the herb hawthorn, fish oil, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, and potassium. You will have to make certain sacrifices, but do not create more stress by treating these suggestions as things that must be incorporated immediately.
Stress

Remember, stress raises blood pressure too! Instead, remember that it took a lifetime to create conditions out of which your high blood pressure emerged, and that to effectively create new conditions in which a healthier blood pressure can reappear will take a good deal of perseverance over time as well.
Move more

The most dreaded remedy for most is exercise. What many people don’t realize, however, is that the introduction of strenuous exercise into a life of a person with high blood pressure is incredibly dangerous. If you have yet to realize, the theme here is increased health over time, and the important thing is not that you reform every facet of your life today, tomorrow, or even this week or month. The important thing is that you set your sights on the kind of life you want when you are 80 years old, and work toward that fitness level now. So, begin taking walks in the afternoon. Go golfing without the golf cart. Play with the kids more often. Join an intramural sport. Whatever it is that pops into your mind first without eliciting a response of dread from you is where you should start.

Do these activities whenever you can. Eventually, you will find more time for exercise so long as you have not overburdened yourself. You will create more ways to eat better and/or less. Overburdening is the enemy because it disincentivizes good health. When you start feeling the effects of an increase in health, you will be surprised by its motivational force. You will naturally want to pursue an even greater health level, because it feels better than any cigarette, drink, or slice of pie ever can.

2. Lemon juice and olive oil

A few drops of lemon juice mixed with a teaspoon of olive oil is one of the best home remedies for brittle nails. Massage the mixture into your nails, let it soak in and slip soft gloves on. Use it at least two times a week, and it will help you to transform your brittle nails.

A gentle massage with a few drops of Vitamin E oil will improve the condition of your nails and make them healthier. For better results wear manicure gloves.
4. Lemon juice

Nail polishes and harsh nail polish removers that contain formaldehyde will dry your nails and can cause them to take on a yellowish tinge. So try to avoid nail polish removal, and use a remover with a non-acetone base if needed. Another universal and natural solution for this is lemon juice! Just squeeze the lemon juice out, then dip a cotton pad in it and swipe every nail. Massage the leftover juice in, allow it to dry on your nails and wash your hands in lukewarm water.

Mix together 2 teaspoons of sea salt with 2 drops of lemon juice, wheat germ oil, myrrh oil and frankincense oil. Pour the mixture into a bowl of lukewarm water, soak your hands and try to keep them soaked for at least 15 minutes. Do it twice a week and it will certainly help transform your weak, brittle nails.

6. Herbal mask

This is one of my favorite home remedies for my nails! Pour boiling water over the mixture of a teaspoon each of peppermint and chamomile tea, and let them steep for about an hour and a half. Strain herbs away and mix in 2 tablespoons of wheat flour and half a teaspoon of olive oil. Blend and apply to your nails, leave for 20-30 minutes and then rinse off.
7. Beer soak

Apple cider vinegar, olive oil and beer are a good remedy for your brittle nails. Mix a warm olive oil, apple cider vinegar and beer. Soak your nails into the mixture for about 15 minutes! Very easy, fast and a perfect way to use those beer leftovers!
8. Massage

Spend a few minutes of your day doing something really good for yourself! Take a small amount of vegetable oil of choice, nail cream or moisturizing cream and apply on every nail, massaging thoroughly and gently all the way. Salmon
Salmon is a super-nutritious food that can work miracles on your body. It’s high in omega-3 fatty acids that increase happy brain chemicals such as serotonin and help regulate stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol. Moreover, omega-3 fatty acids help improve your brain function. Try eating 2 to 3 servings of salmon per week to reduce your stress levels.

Best Health Benefits of Tomatoes

Tomatoes are a nutritional powerhouse that provides incredible health benefits when included in your daily eating plan. Tomatoes are rich in vitamins A, C, K, vitamin B6, potassium, folate, thiamin, magnesium, niacin, copper and phosphorus, which are all essential to maintain good health. One of the best things about tomatoes is that they are naturally low in cholesterol, saturated fat, sodium and calories. You can use tomatoes in your sandwiches, salads, sauces, smoothies and soups. Read on to discover a few reasons to eat tomatoes every day.
1. Improve vision

Tomatoes are an excellent source of vitamins A and C which help improve your vision and can also help prevent night blindness. A recent study shows that the high vitamin A content of tomatoes can help prevent macular degeneration, a serious eye disease. Moreover, tomatoes can lower your risk of developing cataracts. Tomatoes are also packed with the phytochemical antioxidants lycopene, lutein and zeaxanthin, which protect your eyes from light damage.
2. Help fight cancer

According to a study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, consuming more tomatoes can help combat prostate cancer. Tomatoes can also help reduce the risk of some other cancers such as stomach, lung, cervical, pharynx, mouth, throat, rectal, colon, esophagus, and ovarian cancer. That’s because tomatoes are high in the antioxidant lycopene. If you want to boost the anti-cancer benefits of tomatoes, try cooking them with olive oil.
3. Clear skin

Eating tomatoes regularly can help clear your skin and make it look perfect. Tomatoes contain lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that protects skin from sun damage and makes your skin less sensitive to UV light, one of the causes of wrinkles and fine lines. You can use tomatoes to heal acne and rashes and minimize large pores. Rub the pulp of tomatoes on your dull skin to restore its healthy glow.

4. Reduce blood sugar levels

Tomatoes contain very little carbohydrates and they help reduce blood sugar levels. Tomatoes also contain chromium that helps control blood sugar, and fiber that helps keep the blood sugar levels from getting too high. A few studies have found that the powerful antioxidants in tomatoes protect the bloodstream and kidneys, the areas which are often affected by diabetes.
5. Promote good sleep

Tomatoes are a great source of lycopene and vitamin C that can help you sleep better. So, if you have trouble falling asleep, consider adding tomatoes to your daily diet. You can use tomatoes in your soup or salad, or add one to your smoothie.
6. Keep your bones healthy

Tomatoes contain vitamin K and calcium which help keep your bones healthy. Therefore, eating tomatoes can help strengthen and repair your bones. It has been shown that the antioxidant lycopene can also improve bone mass and help fight osteoporosis, a serious disease that can cause bone fractures, deformity, and disability.
7. Relieve chronic pain

Due to the presence of anti-inflammatory agents such as carotenoids and bioflavonoids, tomatoes can relieve chronic pain. People who frequently suffer from mild or moderate pain usually have inflammation. A research show that drinking a glass of tomato juice every day can lower blood levels of TNF-alpha that causes inflammation, by about 34 percent. Thus, tomatoes are good for people who suffer from chronic health issues such as heart disease, osteoporosis, cancer and Alzheimer’s.
8. Good for your hair

Tomatoes are also good for your hair. They are packed with vitamins and iron that help strengthen your hair and can even add shine to damaged and lifeless hair. Moreover, tomatoes have the acidity that balances the pH levels in the hair. If you have a dandruff and itchy scalp, apply fresh tomato juice on your hair and scalp after shampooing, and rinse with cold or lukewarm water after 4 to 5 minutes. Don’t use tomatoes on your hair too often because their acidity can dry out your hair.

9. Help lose weight

If you are trying to drop those unwanted pounds, make sure you include tomatoes into your everyday diet. They are low in fat and don’t contain cholesterol. Tomatoes contain plenty of fiber and water, so they will help you feel full without an unnecessary amount of calories. You can eat tomatoes raw or add them to your casseroles, salads, and other diet-friendly meals.
